Pinterest really is a wonderful place, full of all kinds of genius wedding planning ideas. One of my favorite recent discoveries (or re-discoveries, since I pinned this for my sister’s wedding last June & never actually made use of it until now) is a downloadable app called Wedding Party App.
I found that the easiest way was to sign up for the Wedding Party App service online here using an actual computer rather than an iPad, as you have to add a cover photo & for whatever reason my iPad was not willing to allow me to do that. Just hit the button to sign up, enter your name, your fiance’s name, your wedding date & an easy name for your wedding itself (I named ours Jason’s last name).
From there, the website allows you to email your guest to invite them to join now (I’m about a year & four months too early for this option) & lets you print out cute place cards & posters detailing the steps your guests need to take in order to download & use the app. I copied this same information, along with a link to the Wedding Party App website over to our wedding website on The Knot, since our Save-the-Date magnets reference our wedding website on them & I’m hoping/assuming that our guests will go there to get all kinds of information about the wedding itself once we send our Save-the-Dates out much later in the year.
This app is available for both Android phones & iPhones, which is great. Provided that your wedding guests have smart phones, rather than “dumb phones” (which unfortunately does mean my future in-laws will not be able to access this app), they can easily search “Wedding Party App” & download it to their phone either prior to the day of your wedding or on your wedding day itself. From there, they enter their name & email address to sign-up, enter your wedding name to locate your wedding specific section of the app & they can take & upload pictures & add notes to your Wedding Party site on the go. This creates a really neat timeline effect so you can see what happened, when after the wedding is over.
I am really looking forward to using this app at our wedding (& in events leading up to the wedding, such as the rehearsal dinner!) so we can see the day’s activities through the eyes of the guests. These days everyone is glued to their phones anyway, so why not use that to our advantage? Has anyone had any experience with this app? Will you be using it on your wedding day?
